On Thursday, the Quail Valley cross country team competed in the HDAL cross country championships.
The varsity boys ran the race of the day to win the boys championship banner.~ Erick Machuca led the way for the Cougars by taking the silver medal.~ Nathan Delgado finished 5th, Lucas Glaze was 6th, Jacob Bannon was 14th and Josh Varela was 15th in a race with over 110 racers.~~
The varsity girls took 3rd place overall as a team.~ Xyrie Goeson was this year's HDAL champion.~ Haley Pratt took 6th place.
Quail Valley took first place overall for the JV boys race.~ Anthony Duarte placed 3rd, Kole Tingesdahl was 8th, Carlos Mejia was 9th and John De La Rosa was 10th.
The Cougars also took first overall in the JV girls race.~ Jasmin Martinez led the way by taking gold, while Cristal Magana was 4th and Ruby Hernandez was 8th.
Jacey Hernandez won the girls consolation race while Nathan Munoz won the boys consolation race.
Congratulations Cougars on an outstanding season!!!
The Cougars have one more race next Friday at Mt SAC.~ There is practice tomorrow morning for all athletes racing at Mt SAC.
