Have you been absent this year? Do you want a chance to make up your absence? You’re in Luck! Saturday Academy is your chance to make up for a missed absence as well as an interesting and fun-filled day of learning. Our next Saturday Academy of the year will be December 8th from 8-noon. Permission slips will be handed out to students who have missed one or more days of school. If you did not receive a permission slip but are interested in attending, you may pick up a form from the main office. Permission slips MUST Be turned in by Friday.

Basketball tryouts begin next week. All girls Basketball Tryouts for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls will begin Monday December 10th @ 7:00 am. Tryouts for 7th & 8th grade boys’ varsity basketball team will begin on Wednesday, December 12th after school in the gym until 5:30. The JV boys’ tryouts for all 6th and 7th grade boys will begin on Monday, December 17th after school in the gym until 5:30. Please be sure that you have an up to date physical on file prior to the first day of tryouts. Please see Mr. McKenzie if you have any questions.

The deadline to sign-up for this year’s 8th grade Washington DC trip is December 22nd. If you are an 8th grader whose parents are still considering sending you on the Washington DC 8th grade trip in April, go see Ms. Mankins in Room H6. 7th graders: To register for the 2020 Washington DC/New York trip your parents need to register you online. $95 will hold your spot for the trip. If you need information on the trip or registration information, go see Ms. Mankins in Room H6

It’s nice to share, but remember that allowing someone to reach into your chip bag, handing someone food with unwashed hands, or “waterfalling” drinks is also a great way to share germs. Be healthy this season. Wash your hands often, or at least use hand sanitizer. Sharing clothing or hats is also a great way to share things like head lice. Stay Healthy! Be Kind, but know you don't always have to share everything--especially Germs!

Just a reminder that breakfast food must stay in the cafeteria in the morning. If you are going to save an item such as a granola bar or pop tart for later in the morning, please put it away in your backpack before leaving the cafeteria in the morning.

Students--We are keeping track of attendance by grade level and are working on some great rewards for the grade level that has the best attendance. We are also going to take in to account if students attend a Saturday Academy & give additional credit for those students who made up absences on those days! Also--we are continuing our grade level challenge again this year.
If there is ONE day when every single student in a grade level is here--we have something special planned for your ENTIRE grade level. More information is coming soon--but bottom line....Be at school every day! Attendance today, equals Achievement tomorrow!

The big Blue Recycling containers around campus are NOT trashcans. Please do not put food or trash in them. They are for water bottles or aluminum cans only (no paper trash). The money that is collected from recycling goes directly back to students to sponsor events such as field trips. Please respect the blue bins.

Did you run out of paper? Forget your pencil at home? Never fear, the Student Store is here! Come down to the ASB office to purchase basic school supplies for only $0.25 or $0.50 each.

CLUBS
Academic Pentathlon – will be meeting every Friday at 7:45 am in Mr. Hayes’ room, H-3.
Adventure Club -- Attention Adventure Club members, there is a meeting this Friday December 7th 3:45 – 5:00. Discussion will include choosing your hotel roommates & what to pack. All 2019 DC-trip members are encouraged to attend this Friday's meeting.
Chess Club -- meets every Tuesday morning from 8:15-8:55 am in room H5.
Christian Club –meets every Tuesday after school from 3:45 – 4:30 in room E-2 Cancelled until Dec. 18
Drawing Club – meets Wednesdays after school from 3:45 – 4:30 in room H-7.
Ski & Snowboard Club – There haven't been any sign-ups for the ski/snowboard club. Enrollment is open until Friday, December 14th. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Lovingood in I-4. If we don't have enough students sign up by the 14th, we will have to try again next year!
